In Montgomery County, Maryland, the Democratic Party is led by registered Democratic voters. That is you! It is organized by grassroots precinct-level activist, who are supported by the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC).

Important    |      We need volunteers!!

How does this work? First, you vote to elect our state legislative representatives, our county council members and our executive office holders - the govenor and county executive. Second, you elect the members of the MCDCC every four years during the gubernatorial election primaries. That is now during the primary elections. Third, you volunteer for lots of things, including our precinct organizers, who are formally appointed by our MCDCC.

In concept, this is pretty radical, during this age of growing authoritarianism. In practice, it needs a lot of work. First, we need lots of volunteers to hit the streets canvassing and rolling back the encroaching authoritarianism, by coloring purple regions a deep shade of blue. Second, deomocracy works best when voters are informed. So that is what we did yesterday, June 7, 2026 with our forum of at-large candidates for the MCDCC.
